Men’s Ice Hockey Draws with Anna Maria on Senior Night

NASHUA, N.H. — The Rivier men's ice hockey team tied 2-2 with Anna Maria on Senior Night at Conway Arena on Saturday evening.  

The Raiders celebrated two seniors, Hunter Phillips and Anthony Purdue, both having been with the program since the inaugural season. 

Riv is now 10-11-3 on the season, while Anna Maria is 15-9-1.  

Rivier would score first with a clean sequence from Cormac Hayes to Damon Kiyawasew, giving Liam Hennessy a free lane to find the back of the net at 16:11 in the first period.  

With 27 seconds left in the period, Guillaume Coulombe of Anna Maria capitalized on Riv's turnover, firing in a goal to tie the score, 1-1.  

At 4:55 in the second, the Raiders raced up the ice on the power play, Jon Tavella slid in the second goal of the contest for Riv, with assists credited to Hennessy and Kiyawasew.  

Late in the period, the AMCATS answered back with a one-timer scored by Derek Raposo, assist credited to Guillaume.  

It was a scoreless third period, with a penalty shot drawn at the end and given to Riv's Hayes. Unable to get past Anna Maria's goaltender, forcing the contest into overtime. 

Both teams battled in overtime, but were unlucky in recording another goal, leaving the score tied at 2-2.  

The Raiders are back home at Conway Arena on Tuesday, Feb. 13 for their final contest of the season against Franklin Pierce with a 12:00 p.m. puck drop.
