Albertus Magnus Surges Past Men’s Ice Hockey

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Rivier men's ice hockey team lost to Albertus Magnus 5-3 on the road at Ralph Walker Skating Rink on Jan. 30.

The Raiders are 9-10-2 on the season.

Liam Hennessy cracked the scoring for Rivier at 11:24 in the first period on the power play with assists granted to Jon Tavella and Damon Kiyawasew.

Albertus Magnus' Cameron Weitzman answered back with his own power play goal late in the first with assists from Sam Anderson and Gustav Muller to tie the contest, 1-1.

The Falcons rallied with two more goals in the second period, one earned on a power-play.

Rivier's Jack Tos cut the Falcons lead by one with a last-minute goal at 19:56 in the second, with assists credited to Hunter Phillips and Alfred Rotiroti.

Up next, Rotiroti slid in the tying goal for the Raiders with a single assist from Tos.

Albertus went on to collect two more goals, pushing them past Rivier, gaining their 15th win of the season.

The Falcons outshot the Raiders 38 to 23. Will Augustine was in net for Riv, making 33 saves.

The Raiders will face Assumption at 3:20 p.m. on Feb. 3 at Worcester Ice Arena looking to clinch their fourth win against NE10 opponents.
