Men’s Ice Hockey Falls to Wentworth in First Road Test

EVERETT, Mass. – Rivier men's ice hockey fell in its first matchup away from home on Tuesday night, dropping a 5-1 decision to Wentworth at Allied Veterans Memorial Rink. The Raiders fell to 1-3-1 while Wentworth improved to 3-2-0 on the season.

After going down 2-0 in the opening 5:50 of the game, Rivier got on the board when Jack Tos tallied an unassisted goal with 10:50 remaining in the period to cut the deficit to one. Exactly a minute later, Wentworth's Nikolas Sombrowski would light the lamp to put the Leopards back up by a pair.

The Leopards lead would increase to 4-1 on a Mitch McGinn strike just 14 seconds after the intermission.

A short-handed empty net goal in the waning minutes of the third would seal a 5-1 non-conference victory for Wentworth on home ice.

Riv goaltender Will Augustine made 21 saves while Jack McGovern made 25 saves in the opposite crease.

Both sides went 0-for-3 on the man-advantage.

Next up, Rivier will return to Conway Arena for Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night against Southern N.H. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 with puck drop set for 7:10 p.m.
