Anna Maria Downs Men’s Hockey

AUBURN, MA: The Rivier men's hockey team was defeated this afternoon by Anna Maria. This was the second matchup between the two teams. Each program has been victorious over the other.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/21/2022

- Score: Anna Maria 6, Rivier 2

- Records: Anna Maria (6-7-2), Rivier (4-10-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The AMCATS aggressive play took the Raiders by surprise early on in the contest. Anna Maria got a sizable lead in the first period. Gavin Proeh would net two for the hosting team, with his second coming via the power play. Matthew Gilbert would put in the second of three goals in the first period to give the AMCATS a 3-0 lead.  

- Anna Maria would add one more in the second to take a 4-0 lead into the final period. Cam Tobey was responsible for the fourth goal in this one.

- The AMCATS would put in their fifth consecutive goal to start the third at 3:02 into the period by way of Deklan Whilans. Milan Breczko (Klasterec, CZR) ended the shutout in the sixth minute of the contest for the Raiders. Jack Sitzman would add one more for Anna Maria before Ashton Jones (South Lyon, MI) would put in the day's final goal to get the 6-2 final.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Luke Newell (Littleton, CO) would be tagged with the loss after seeing 38 shots on net and saving 32 of them.

-  Julius Huset got the win, his sixth of the season, after making 25 saves.

-  Anna Maria was perfect on the power play (1-for-1)

- Rivier men's hockey will be back on Friday the 28th when they travel to Southern NH for a 7:40 PM game.
