Men’s Hockey Falls Short to Post

SHELTON, CT: The Rivier men's hockey team fell this evening to Post University by a score of 4-3. 

THE BASICS:

- Date: 12/10/2021

- Score: Post 4, Rivier 3

- Records: Post (4-5), Rivier (4-6-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- After the first period, the Raiders held a 2-1 lead. Post did get the scoring started just one minute in by way of John Krapian. Rivier responded seven minutes later to tie it up 1-1. Hunter Phillips (Quincy, MA) found the back of the net first for the Raiders. Milan Breczko (Klasterec, CZR) scored again to give Riv the lead. This marks his fourth straight game with a goal.  

- The second period was all the Eagles. They found the back of the net three times in the period to retake the lead and extend it by two. Tommy Buis, Nolan, and Jack Engdahl all scored to end the second leading 4-2.

- The Third consisted of just one goal coming from the Raiders to decrease the deficit to just one. Mike Mucci (Westford, MA) beat the Post tender on a powerplay, netting the third goal of the night for Rivier.

- Luke Newell (Littleton, CO) took the loss in net for Riv after seeing 33 shots on net. He was able to record 29 saves.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Post 33, Rivier 27

-  Penalties: Rivier 19 minutes on 4 infractions, Post 22 minutes on 7 infractions

-  Powerplays: Rivier 1 for 4, Post 0 for 4.
