Men’s Hockey Downed by Morrisville

MORRISVILLE, NY: The Rivier men's hockey team fell in a close matchup with SUNY Morrisville this evening by a score of 2-1.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/19/2021

- Score: Morrisville 2, Rivier 1

- Records: Morrisville (1-5), Rivier (3-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  It was a battle of the goaltenders in a low scoring affair between the two teams. The first goal came seven minutes into the second period from the hosting Mustangs. Jake Kaplan gave his team the 1-0 lead going into the final period of the contest.

-  The third would consist of both teams finding the back of the net. Unfortunately for the Raiders, this wouldn't be enough. Eric Melso struck home 12:24 into the period to give Morrisville a 2-0 lead. Rivier would get on the board just two minutes later on a Milan Breczko (Klasterec, CZR) power play goal.

- Both Garrett Boyonoski and Andrew LoRusso (Peabody, MA) had solid games in net for both sides. Boyonoski saw 19 shots and saved 18, with LoRusso seeing 26 shots and saving 24.
