Postseason Preview: Men’s Basketball Travels to Top-Seeded Saint Joseph (Conn.) For GNAC Quarterfinals

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Following the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament win since the 2006-07 Championship, the No. 8 Rivier men's basketball team heads south to West Hartford for a quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 Saint Joseph (Conn.) on Tuesday, Feb. 20 with tip-off from James A. Calhoun Court set for 7:00 p.m.

Rivier used a career-high 40-point output from junior Odarius Cade in Monday night's Play-In Game to down Colby-Sawyer, 98-70, for the first playoff win for the Raiders in 17 years and improve the Raiders' record to 15-11. Saint Joseph went a perfect 14-0 in GNAC play to solidify the one seed and earn homecourt advantage through the tournament. The Blue Jays are receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll and are ranked fourth in Region One.

The Raiders head into tonight's contest winless in their four meetings against the Blue Jays, including this season's 80-52 loss at the Muldoon Center back on Jan. 13. In the road victory, Saint Joseph's had four players register double-digit point totals while outrebounding Rivier, 36-22.

Riv has had contributions from Cade, Devin Owens, Robenson Baguidy, Ra'Quan Groves, Joe Melvin, and Woodson Jean Baptiste all season and looks to rely on this group to stop the streaking Blue Jays, who enter tonight's game with a 13-game winning streak in hand.

The winner of Tuesday's contest will advance to the GNAC Semifinals against the winner of No. 3 Saint Joseph's (Me.) and No. 6 Emmanuel on Thursday, Feb. 22 with a time and location to be announced.
