Pignone Notches 1K Points, Men’s Basketball Falls in Road Tilt at Regis (Mass.)

WESTON, Mass. – The Rivier men's basketball team suffered a 73-62 setback to Regis in a Saturday afternoon Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) clash at Higgins Court.

With the loss, the Raiders fell to 12-9 (4-7 GNAC), while the Pride bounced to 10-11 (5-5 GNAC).

With 15:12 left in the second half, graduate guard Nikolas Pignone joined the Rivier men's basketball 1,000 point club on a made three-pointer. Pignone has suited up for 94 contests in his five years (four seasons) playing with the Raiders.

The Pride took a 15-point advantage into the half and never let it go over the final 20 minutes en route to their tenth victory of the season and fifth in conference play.

Rivier was led by Devin Owens who scored 24 points on 9-of-18 (50%) shooting while notching seven rebounds and four assists. Pignone was second on the team in scoring, recording 12 points in the contest.

The Raiders will travel to Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday, Feb. 7 with a 7:30 p.m. start time scheduled from the Hogan Sports Center.
