Men’s Basketball Powers Past Fitchburg St., 77-61

NASHUA, N.H. – Rivier men's basketball had three student-athletes register double-digit point totals as the Raiders cruised past Fitchburg St. by a final score of 77-61 on Thursday night at Muldoon Gymnasium. Rivier earned its second victory of the campaign to sit at 2-1 while the Falcons remain winless at 0-4.

The Raiders took a 13-4 lead on an Odarius Cade three-pointer just 4:03 into the half. Fitchburg St. cut the deficit to three on a Kamua Franks layup with 12:44 to play. A Nikolas Pignone three with 3:01 remaining put the Raiders up 40-28. The Falcons went on to score one more bucket to cut the deficit to 10 at the half.

Cade led the scoring efforts with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including three made free throws. Robenson Baguidy registered three of Rivier's six steals in the opening 20 minutes.

Rivier started the second half on a 15-5 run over the opening 4:55 to push the lead to 55-35. The lead would expand to as much as 22 points throughout the half before the final buzzer would sound marking the Raiders' second home win of the season.

Cade recorded 14 points in the second half to finish with a team-high 26. Devin Owens finished shot 7-of-15 from the field, notching 17 points. Pignone's four three-pointers would help him eclipse 14 points on the outing along with seven rebounds. Ahamadou Sillah hauled in nine of the squad's 37 rebounds.

Rivier shot 12-of-36 (33.3%) from behind the arc while limiting the Falcons to 3-of-16 shooting from three.

The Raiders now sit at 7-5 in the all-time series with the Falcons.

Riv returns to the friendly confines of Muldoon Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 18 with a non-conference bout against Brandeis with a noon tip-off.
