2023-24 Season Preview: Rivier Men’s Basketball

ROSTER / SCHEDULE

NASHUA, N.H. – After a down season one year ago, the Rivier men's basketball team looks to rebuild into a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship contender until first year head coach Tom Glynn in 2023-24.

After spending five seasons at the helm of Rhode Island College's men's program, Glynn was brought on board to join Rivier in late February.

"I can't wait to get started," said Glynn. "We will rely on the leadership of returning players, as well as talented transfers and freshmen who are ready to play big roles."

Glynn was busy recruiting this offseason, bringing in 14 new players to the team while bringing back five returners, Robenson BaguidyJoe MelvinNikolas PignoneAdam Razzaboni, and Nesta Roberts

Baguidy is set to return as the team's point guard after starting 23 of last season's contests in his first collegiate campaign. Returning for graduate years are Pignone and Roberts. Pignone led Rivier in the scoring department a season ago, averaging 14.8 points per game over 25 games played, the ninth-best average in the GNAC. Averaging 8.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game was Roberts, who started all 25 games as the team's big.

Fourteen additions to the roster will make it a battle for playing time.

"The players and staff have worked incredibly hard this preseason to take on a challenging non-conference schedule that will prepare us for a GNAC that will be extremely strong this season," said Glynn.

The team wraps up pre-season play with an exhibition game against Division I UMass Lowell on Nov. 6 at Costello Gymnasium. After that, the real action begins as Roger Williams will come to Muldoon Gymnasium for the season opener on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 4:00 p.m.

The Raiders will then face off against seven other non-conference opponents before hosting Emmanuel (Mass.) in their first GNAC competition of the season on Saturday, Dec. 2.

Rivier will take on all fourteen other conference institutions while adding Framingham St., Fisher, and Lesley to the non-conference mix.

Glynn will look to return the Raiders to the GNAC Tournament for the first time since the 2021-22 campaign after posting a 6-11 league ledger. Rivier lost in the First Round to Norwich by a bucket.
