Men’s Basketball Stunned by Colby-Sawyer

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's basketball team fell to Colby-Sawyer College this evening in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/9/2022

- Score: Colby-Sawyer 76, Rivier 65

- Records: Colby-Sawyer (8-12, 5-9 GNAC), Rivier (8-12, 4-9 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Chargers came out flying all over the court on the defensive side of the ball. They put on the pressure keeping the Raiders to just a 28.1% shooting percentage in the first half, 0% from the three-point line. Overall, it was a low-scoring half, with both teams rushing shots and shooting at a low percentage. Colby-Sawyer only shot 36% from the floor and 23% from behind the arc.

- The Chargers Scott Lampron had 11 points a game high at the half to help give his team the five-point advantage. Joseph Buford (Charleston, SC) had the team high for Rivier with nine points.

- The Second half saw Lampron and Miles Gillette (Washington, DC) go off for both teams. Lampron had a streak of 11 straight points for the Chargers on his way to a 27-point second half. Gillette tallied 22 of his own in the half, trying to keep his team in the game.

- Colby-Sawyer would shoot an astonishing 65% from the floor in the second, to Rivier's 40%.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Lampron finished with a game high 38 points along with eight rebounds.

-  Gillette finished with 29 points and 14 rebounds.

-  Steals: Rivier 7, Colby-Sawyer 4

- Rivier men's basketball will be back in action Saturday when they travel to Elms for their first GNAC matchup of the season. Game time is set for 12 pm.
