Gillette Goes Off for 32 Points in Victory Over Monks

STANDISH, ME: The Rivier men's basketball team worked their way back in the second half to overtake GNAC opponent Saint Joseph's this evening.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/1/2022

- Score: Rivier 76, SJC 66

- Records: Rivier (7-11, 3-8 GNAC), SJC (5-14, 4-7 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After surviving a barrage of Monk three pointers in the first half, the Raiders worked their way back in the second half. St. Joe's made eight late first half threes to give them an eight-point lead going into the locker room with the score at 37-29.

- The second half was a Miles Gillette (Washington, DC) show, with him putting up 21 points and 10 rebounds. However, Joseph Buford (Charleston, SC) made the lead changing layup with just 7:12 to go. After that, the Raiders didn't trail again. They outscored the hosting team 47-29 to pick up their third conference win.

- Gillette finished with a game high 32 points and 16 rebounds. Nesta Roberts (Manchester, CT) had the second highest scoring night with 12 points along with seven rebounds.

- The Monks made 15 three pointers throughout the contest. They hoisted up 47 attempts for a 31.9% three-point shooting percentage. Drew Shea and Teagan Hynes tied for the team high with 13 points each. Shea added seven rebounds to his stat line.

-  Rebounds: Rivier 42, SJC 36

-  Steals: Rivier 6, SJC 4
