Men’s Hoops Falls Short to Anchorman

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's basketball team came up short in tonight's non-conference matchup with Rhode Island College by a score of 79-67.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/30/2021

- Score: RIC 79, Rivier 67

- Records: RIC (6-1), Rivier (2-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The First half was a close battle with numerous lead changes and tons of fast break opportunities for both sides. The Anchorman had three players reach double digits in scoring through the half, helping them end with a three-point lead at 41-38.

- Shion Darby topped the team with 15 points. Keyshaun Jacobs was right behind him with 14 points. Jordan Riley also contributed 10 points of his own, along with five rebounds.

- The Raiders were led by Miles Gillette (Washington, DC), who took 16 points into the locker room.

- The second half saw RIC pull away with top performances by Jacobs and Darby. Jacobs added another 14 to his stat line, with Darby netting another 11.

- Rivier shot almost identical to the Anchorman throughout the second half but was bested by foul trouble and RIC's free throw shooting (12-17, 70.6%). Nikolas Pignone (Stoneham, MA) had a team high six points in the second half.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Jacobs had the game high with 28 points.

-  Darby was just behind him with 26 points along with six rebounds.

-  Ousmane Kourouma hauled in 16 rebounds, with 9 coming off the offensive glass.

- Gillette finished with a team high 21 points and 11 rebounds.

- Rivier men's basketball will start conference play this Saturday at home against Lasell University at 1 pm.
