Gillette Nets 1000th Career Point in Loss to Pilgrims

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's basketball team fell this evening to non-conference opponent New England College in a close battle that ended with a score of 93-87.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/23/2021

- Score: NEC 93, Rivier 87

- Records: NEC (3-4), Rivier (2-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The first half saw numerous lead changes, with New England taking a five-point lead into the half. Jamal Allen outperformed all players through the first half as he took 22 points into the locker room. The Raiders were led by Mile Gillette (Washington, DC) and Will Parsons (Rowley, MA). Gillette put together a double-double with 10 rebounds and 14 points. Parsons went 3-for-5 from behind the arc to finish with 11 points.

-  The Second half was just as back and forth, with the game coming down to the wire. The Grims would be able to pull out the win after clutch free throws and big three-point shots late. One of those big three's came from the team leader of the half Michael Tavilla who scored 10 points with four rebounds. Gillette had another team high with 11 points and five rebounds.

- Overall, the Raiders found ways to score this evening. They finished the contest with five players in double digits for scoring. They also shot an almost perfect game from the line, going 16-18 (88.9%)

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Jamal Allen had the game high with 30 points and four rebounds.

-  Gillette scored his 1000th career point tonight, finishing the contest with 25 points and 15 rebounds.

-  Shooting %: Rivier 44.4%, NEC 37.2%

- 3PT %: NEC 30%, Rivier 24.1%

- FT %: Rivier 88.9%, NEC 74.1%

- Rivier men's basketball will be back on home court this coming Tuesday, with Rhode Island College making the trip for a 7 PM tipoff.
