Field Hockey Falls Short to Framingham

Framingham, MA: The Framingham State field hockey team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Rivier by a score of 4-3 in non-conference action Thursday evening in Framingham.  

THE BASICS: 

-Score: Framingham State 4, Rivier 3 

-Records:Framingham State (3-3), Rivier (1-6) 

-Location: Maple Street Field – Framingham, Mass.  

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

- The Raiders got on the board with just over two minutes to play in the first quarter when Hailey Morse poked in a loose ball on a rebounded shot from Madison Streeter to take the first lead of the game. 

- The visitors added two quick goals in the second frame when Jacklyn O'Connor scored in the 18th minute, followed by an Abby Nadeu goal in the 20th minute 

- The Rams answered in the 23rd minute when Abby Clark sent one inside the right post to put the Rams on the board.  

- The Rams cut their deficit to one goal in the 43rd minute when Brandi Core deflected a loose ball into the cage.  

- In the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, Core again after a one-time pass from Corlene Guenard to knot the game at three. 

- The Rams took the lead in the 49th minute when Kennedy St. Pierre sent a strike inside the left post.  

- The visitors had a penalty stroke with about five minutes remaining in regulation, but Streeter's shot went wide.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

- Olivia Boucher made eight saves in net for Rivier.  

- Angelina Barrett made one save before giving way to Kaitlin Loughlin, who made six more in goal for the Rams.  

- Rivier led the game in shots 15-to-13 and in penalty corners 10-to-8.

- Rivier field hockey will be back in action on Wednesday, September 28th, when they host Colby-Sawyer.
