Field Hockey Downed in Non-Conference Bout with Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, NH: The Rivier field hockey team fell this afternoon to non-conference opponent Plymouth State, 6-2.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/14/22

- Score: Plymouth 6, Rivier 2

- Records: Plymouth (3-2), Rivier (1-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The first half was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams. The Raiders got on the board first in the first quarter on a Sydney Spenard (Manchester, NH) goal just 58 seconds in. But the Panthers were quick to respond just 1:25 in after Amy Cohen beat the Riv keeper. Madison Bovill (Tyngsborough, MA) would end the quarter with a second Raider goal to give the visiting squad a 2-1 advantage.

- Plymouth would net just one in the second quarter to tie the game back up before the half. Alessia Salzillo would net the unassisted goal to bring the score to 2-2.

- The second half was all Plymouth as they would put up four more goals to give them the 6-2 win. Three goals would come in the third quarter from Athena Comeau, Taylor Healey, and Jen Newick.

- The fourth quarter was when the Panthers would score their final goal at 58:53. Comeau would finish it off for the home team as she scored her second goal of the contest.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Olivia Boucher (Berlin, NH) would be tagged with the loss after seeing ten shots on goal and saving five. Piper Sherbert got her first win of the season after going perfect in goal, saving all three shots faced.

-  Shots: Plymouth 33, Rivier 18

-  Penalty Corners: Rivier 12, Plymouth 11

- Rivier field hockey will be back in action Saturday at home against Simmons University in GNAC action. The game is set to start at 11:00 AM.
