Field Hockey Falls to St. Joe’s

STANDISH, ME: The Rivier field hockey team fell this morning to GNAC opponent Saint Joseph's College by a score of 6-0.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/11/22

- Score: SJC 6, Rivier 0

- Records: SJC (3-1, 1-0 GNAC), Rivier (1-2, 1-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Monks would find the back of the net twice in the first quarter. Megan Quirion would get it started at 7:27, followed by Alexa Gutowski, who put the hosting squad up 2-0 in the 12th minute.

- Quirion would net another to extend the Monk lead to three in the sixth minute of the second quarter.

- After holding St. Joe's to a scoreless third quarter, Gutowski would go off for two more goals to give her the hat-trick. Now, 5-0 in favor of the home team, they would add one more to close out the scoring with about four minutes left on a Maya Waryas goal.

- Raiders keeper Olivia Boucher (Berlin, NH) faced 19 shots on goal. She would save 13 in the effort.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Penalty Corners: SJC 15, Rivier 1

-  Saves: Rivier 14, SJC 0
