Field Hockey Takes Down Albertus in Home Opener

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier field hockey started Great Northeast Athletic Conference play with a win this evening. The Raiders took down Albertus Magnus 6-0.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/8/22

- Score: Rivier 6, Albertus 0

- Records: Rivier (1-1, 1-0 GNAC), Albertus (0-2, 0-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The first quarter saw the Raiders go up 2-0 after two back-to-back goals. Chloe Sicard (Salem, NH) started it off just 5:48 into the contest. Then, just under one minute later, Madison Streeter (Westminster, VT) tallied the second.  

- The second quarter was quiet, with just one ball finding the back of the net in the home team's favor. Kayla Miles (Londonderry, NH) was credited with the third Rivier score.

- After a 3-0 halftime lead for the Raiders, they would tack on two more in the third quarter. Jacklyn O'Connor (Westford, MA) joined in on the action with her first goal, while Streeter would add her second of the day.

- With under ten minutes to go, Hailey Morse (Manchester, NH) would net the game's final goal, pushing the Raiders lead to 6-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Albertus goalkeeper Serena Montague was tagged with the loss but recorded nine saves in the effort.

-  Shots: Rivier 23. Albertus 1

-  Penalty Corners: Rivier 13, Albertus 5

- Rivier field hockey will be back in action Sunday at 11:00 AM when they travel to Maine to take on St. Joe's in another GNAC matchup.
