Field Hockey Falls Short to Blazers 3-2

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier field hockey team came up just short in tonight's conference matchup with the Blazers of Elms College by a score of 3-2.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/27/2021

- Score: Elms 3, Rivier 2

- Records: Elms (8-8, 7-4 GNAC), Rivier (7-8, 6-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders got on the board first just 9:40 into the contest on an unassisted goal by Madison Streeter (Westminster, VT). She was able to sneak the ball past the Blazer keeper through a horde of bodies.

-  The second quarter started a three unanswered goal streak for Elms. Carissa Ramirez netted the only goal in the second quarter. She lifted it off the ground just past the Raider keeper's blocker. Katie Jones and Ellie Serra broke the tie and added to the Blazer's lead in the third quarter.   

- The Raiders would get one more on the board in the fourth quarter with just under four minutes left to play. Lia Yohanan (Andover, NJ) made the goal of the season off a corner. She made a defender miss, then lifted the ball over all players for it to drop and sneak in the top right corner of the net.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Penalty Corners: Elms 13, Rivier 3
