Field Hockey Takes Down Simmons 4-1

BRIGHTON, MA: The Rivier field hockey team picked up their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win this morning against Simmons University by a score of 4-1.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/2/2021

- Score: Rivier 4, Simmons 1

- Records: Simmons (4-4, 2-2 GNAC), Rivier (2-5, 1-2 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders tallied a goal in each quarter of this morning's contest. The first quarter goal came at 11:59 off the stick of Kayla Miles (Londonderry, NH).

-  The second quarter started with Rivier extending their lead to 2-0 when Maegan Sheehy (Sabattus, ME) netted her first of two goals on the day. In the second quarter, the Sharks Emma Strandson was able to get one past Katie Olsen (Saugus, MA), the Raiders keeper. Olsen saw ten shots on goal, saving nine.  

- The third quarter consisted of Sheehy scoring her second goal of the game, with Chloe Sicard (Salem, NH) putting a close to the scoring in the fourth quarter. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Simmons 15, Rivier 8

-  Saves: Rivier 11, Simmons 1

-  Penalty Corners: Simmons 16, Rivier 3
