Baseball Downs Dean, 4-2

FRANKLIN, Mass. – A Kyle Hsu RBI single in the top of the fourth would prove to be the difference as Rivier baseball took care of business on Wednesday afternoon at the Longley Athletic Complex, downing Dean by a final score of 4-2 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) matchup.

With the victory, the Raiders obtained their first winning streak of the campaign and improved to 7-15 (3-3 GNAC) while the Bulldogs fell to 4-16 (0-9 GNAC).

After three scoreless frames, Rivier would score first in the top of the fourth as Dylan Aliberti reached on an error, knocking in two runs. Hsu would then push Aliberti across the plate on a two-out RBI single to center, making it 3-0.

Both teams would score a run in the sixth. In the top half, Owen Medlock ran the squeeze to perfection, laying down a bunt with Aliberti on third to give the Raiders a four-run cushion. In the bottom half, Dean would strike to cut the deficit back down to three.

Dean would score once more in the bottom of the seventh to make it 4-2, but lockdown innings from Patrick Young and Ty Baker secured the Raiders' win.

Anthony Morro got the start on the bump and earned his second win of the campaign after tossing six innings of two-run ball, striking out four Bulldogs batters. Young came in for two scoreless innings in which he fanned two hitters faced. Baker put Dean down in one-two-three fashion in the bottom of the ninth to come away with his third save of the season.

Rivier will look to make it four in a row when it heads home to Holman Stadium on Thursday, April 11 for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch against non-conference opponent Gordon.
