Baseball Falls to Eastern Nazarene

WEYMOUTH, MA: Rivier baseball fell this evening to Eastern Nazarene College in non-conference action at Libby Field.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/22/23

- Score: Eastern Nazarene 12, Rivier 4

- Records: Eastern Nazarene (14-3), Rivier (3-8)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders went up two in the top of the second on a single by Jacob Boudreau (Auburn, NH) that compounded into a throwing error plating the second run. The Lions answered back big in the bottom of the third with a six-run inning. Followed by a three-run fourth and a two-run fifth.

- Rivier would score two more in the top of the seventh on a two-run moon shot by John Canto (Harwich, MA) to deep right field. The Lions outhit the Raiders ten to four, with Riv committing five errors to Eastern Nazarene's three.

- Getting the win on the mound for the Lions was David Carey (1-0) after pitching three innings with two hits allowed, two earned runs, and four strikeouts. Getting the loss was Patrick Young (Billerica, MA), who went 2.1 innings, giving up three hits and four earned runs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Top Performers

-  Jaime Roldan was 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, 2 RBIs, and a home run.

-  Shane McNamara was 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs

-  Canto was 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs and a home run
