Baseball Sweeps Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, NH: The Rivier baseball team swept the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer this afternoon in GNAC play.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/23/22

- Score: Rivier 14, Colby-Sawyer 5. G2 Rivier 2, Colby-Sawyer 0.

- Records: Rivier (3-24, 2-12 GNAC), Colby-Sawyer (7-24, 4-10 GNAC)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Corey Cochran (Salem, NH) got his first win of the season on the mound for the Raiders, going all seven innings, giving up just seven hits, and striking out five Chargers.

Connor Dines (Framingham, MA) led the way for Rivier's offense going 2-for-4 with a game-high three RBIs. Frank Gulezian (Derry, NH), Patrick Young (Billerica, MA), and Patrick Quinn (Seabrook, NH) all picked up two hits in the ball game along with two RBIs apiece.

- Jesse MacGlashing and Brady Holmes each had one hit for the Chargers along with two runs batted in for their ball club. Together they tallied four of their team's five runs.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Game two was a pitcher's duel as each team was only able to muster two hits each. The Raiders were able to capitalize on the baserunners that they had to get the 2-0 victory.

Brandon Kelly (Lincoln, RI) picked up win number one on the season, going all seven innings allowing just two hits and striking out seven Chargers. Jack Mullen pitched a solid six innings for Colby-Sawyer, also allowing just two hits with nine strikeouts.

-  Young and Zach White (Long Beach, CA) were responsible for batting in the team's two runs on their only hits of the ball game. Each tallied one hit along with one RBI.

- Rivier baseball will be back in action tomorrow when they take on the Saint Joseph's College Monks in Standish, Maine, at 12 and 2:30 PM.
