Baseball Falls to Lasell

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier baseball team suffered two more losses this afternoon against GNAC opponent Lasell University.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/16/22

- Score: Lasell 9, Rivier 3. G2 Lasell 16, Rivier 3.

- Records: Lasell (13-14, 9-3 GNAC), Rivier 1-24, 0-12 GNAC)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After leading 3-1, the Raiders would give up a three-spot in the top of the third to go down 4-3. Lasell would tack on one more in the fourth, then have their biggest inning in the top of the fifth with four runs.

- Ross Audet paced the Lasers offense with three hits and three RBIs. Griffin Ferreira also tallied three runs batted in but picked up just one hit.

- Frank Gulezian (Derry, NH) had three of the Raiders six hits in game one, along with all two of the team's RBIs.

- Chris O'Connor would pick up his fourth win of the season on the mound after going four innings allowing just five hits and striking out two. Darek Lallo came in for the last three innings to earn himself the save. He pitched three innings allowing just one hit with one strikeout.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Matthew Bischof had the highlight in game two with a second inning grand slam. The Lasers put up all 16 runs in the game's first five innings. Bischof was a solid 2-for-5 with five RBIs. Audet had another great game at the plate, going 4-for-5, and added another three runs batted in to his stat line.

-  Both Raider runs came on sac flies by Patrick Quinn (Seabrook, NH) and Jacob Boudreau (Auburn, NH).

-  Alex Noel picked up his second win of the season for Lasell, going five innings with just five hits against him and three strikeouts.

- Rivier baseball will be back next Thursday when they take on Maine Farmington at 7 pm.
