Baseball Stumbles Against AMCATS

MARLBOROUGH, MA: The Rivier baseball team fell in both games this afternoon against Anna Maria College in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/10/22

- Score: Anna Maria 13, Rivier 0. G2 Anna Maria 15, Rivier 0.

- Records: Anna Maria (16-9, 7-1 GNAC), Rivier (1-19, 0-8 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Jack Marzec pitched a complete game shutout against the Raiders in game one. He went seven innings with only three hits allowed while punching out nine hitters. Timothy Scott (Lowell, MA) kept the AMCATS off balance after the first three innings racking up six strikeouts in 6.2 innings.

- For the AMCATS, Hunter Dunithan, Jason Shell, and Nick Genatossio all had two RBIs in the game. Genatossio had three hits, with Dunuthan picking up two and Shell one.

- The Raiders had three hits in game one. Jacob Boudreau (Auburn, NH), Frank Gulezian (Derry, NH), and Corey Cochran (Salem, NH) had the hits.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Anna Maria threw a combined perfect game against the Raiders in game two. Nick Choate pitched in the first five innings of the game, giving up 0 hits and striking out five. Jake Usenia would come in to pitch the last two innings and striking out two.

- Kosta Drosidis led the way for the AMCATS, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Drosidis went yard twice in game two. Nick Morley had two hits and three RBIs. Elijah Spataj was a solid 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. James Powers and Luke Halunen both tallied four hits each in five at bats.

- Rivier baseball will be back in action Tuesday at Holman Stadium against MCLA at 7 PM.
