Baseball Falls to Rochester in Seven Innings

MYRTLE BEACH, SC: The Rivier baseball team fell in seven innings to Rochester in non-conference action this afternoon.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/12/22

- Score: Rochester 14, Rivier 1

- Records: Rochester (9-1), Rivier (0-7)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a Raiders 1-0 lead, the Yellow Jackets came to life, plating three in the second inning and eight in the seventh to end it. Rochester ended the contest on a grand slam by Joseph Rende.  

- Also contributing to the Yellow Jackets big inning was Robert Constantine, who hit a home run to start off the seventh. Jackson Reed batted in three runs of his own in the contest along with teammate Dylan Stezzi who was a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

- Devin Albino (North Smithfield, RI) put in a solid performance on the mound for the Raiders, going five innings and striking out two. Colby Cruser picked up the win for Rochester after throwing six innings, allowing just three hits, and striking out 11.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Rende was 4-for-5 on the day with 4 RBIs.

-  Stezzi was 2-for-2 with 3 RBIs and two runs scored.

Frank Gulezian (Derry, NH) was 1-for-3 with the lone RBI on the day for the Raiders.

- Rivier baseball will wait a week to play again. That game will be next Saturday on the road at Wentworth. Game times are set at 11 am and 1:30 pm.
