Rivier Raiders downed by Norwich University in a GNAC Conference Series

The Rivier University baseball team wrapped up its Great Northeast Conference series against Norwich University with a four-game series. The Norwich Cadets swept the Raiders in conference play.

How It Happened:

Game One

Brandon Kelly, (Lincoln, R.I.), on the hill for the Rivier Raiders. Brandon Kelly, a junior pitcher for the Raiders went on to pitch four innings in their loss to Norwich University. In the bottom of the second inning Tyler Jackson (Boston, MA) singled to left field, and Devin Albino (North Smithfield, R.I.) singled to center. In the bottom of the third inning the Rivier Raiders left three runners on base as the Cadets were able to retire Devin Albino (North Smithfield, R.I). Connor Dines (Wayland, Mass.) singled to center in the fifth inning. 

 

Game Two 

In the bottom of the first inning Tyler Jackson (Boston, Mass.) doubled to left field earning an RBI scoring Corey Cochran (Salem, N.H.). Frederick Kazalski (Dracut, Mass.) singled to left field for the Raiders in the bottom of the third inning. The Norwich Cadets bats came alive in the seventh inning of the second game as the Cadets added six runs against the Rivier University Raiders. Jake Mainey (Merrimack, N.H.) entered the game in a tough moment to get the Raiders out of a tough jam. Tyler Jackson (Boston, Mass.) had an RBI single and had an amazing day defensively for the Raiders. 

 

 

Inside the Numbers:

  • Brandon Kelly junior pitcher threw in four innings for the Rivier Raiders in Game 1 against Norwich. 
  • Frederick Kazalski senior outfielder added a hit to left field for the Rivier Raiders. 
  • Patrick Young sophomore captured a hit for the Raiders against the Norwich Cadets.
  • Tyler Jackson had an RBI single and made a few great defensive plays for the Raiders.
  • Devin Albino pitched 6.1 innings capturing three strikeouts against the Norwich Cadets.
