Raiders Keep Playoffs Insight with Split

Nashua, NH- The Raiders kept their playoff hopes alive after they split today’s double header against Lasell College.  The first game went to the Lasers 6-4 where pitcher Mike Mahoney threw a complete game allowing 4 runs on 7 hits.  Ford Coats (Raymond, NH) got the start for the Raiders as he went 5 strong allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits.

The second game went to the Raiders thanks to stellar pitching from Senior Shaun Hanson (Lee, NH) for the second straight game.  Hanson went the distance allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 8 Lasell hitters.  The Raiders got to Lasell starter Matt Pitts early as they got 5 runs in the first inning which was more than enough for Hanson.

The Raiders offense was led by senior captains Ryan O’Connor (Medford, MA) and Chris Hunt (Lisbon, NH) as they both went a combined 7 for 12 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs.  Aramis Velez (Lowell, MA) kept his hot bat going as he contributed with 2 hits with an RBI and 2 runs.  Tim O’Meara (Burlington, MA) went 3 for 5 on the day with 2 RBIs and a stolen base.

The Lasers were led by Matt Mahoney who had 3 hits and scored 2 runs.  Josh Sullivan also had himself solid day collecting 2 hits and 2 RBIs.  Jake Salkovitz had 2 hits on the night and scored 2 runs for the Lasers.

The Raiders will need to sweep Suffolk University tomorrow in order to make the GNAC playoffs.  The Lasers will head to New England for a non-conference match up on April 22, 2010.
