Cross Country racks up the weekly GNAC Honors

(Boston, Mass.) The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier today that three Rivier University Raiders were named GNAC Runner and/or Rookie of the Week in Cross Country.

Senior Alec Davis (Amherst, NH) was named the Men's XC Runner of the Week as he was the first runner of a four year school to cross the finish line at the Eagle Invitational last Friday afternoon. Davis ran an impressive 29:19 on the 8K race - which is an average of 5:54 per mile - as the Raiders captured the Team Championship by just two points over Emerson College.

Freshman Matt Jardin (Lakeville, MA) made sure that the team would bring home the championship as he finished in third overall (2nd in Four Year Student-Athletes) with an overall time of 29:26. He was also the top Freshman finisher for the race.

On the Women's Side, freshman Kathleen Maggio (Londonderry, NH) was selected as the Women's XC Rookie of the Week. Maggio finished seventh overall with a time of 23:23 as the Women's team also captured the Team Championship.

Senior Vanessa Viola (Nashua, NH) was named to the Weekly Honor Roll as she was the top Raider to cross the line at the Eagle Invitational. She finished her first race of the season with an overall time of 22:01.

Both Raider Cross Country teams will run this Saturday at the Pop Cromwell Invitational hosted by Gordon College.
