GNAC Releases Field Hockey and Volleyball All-Conference
NASHUA, NH: The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) released the All-Conference honors for both field hockey and women's volleyball this morning. Between the two teams, ten student-athletes earned a spot on an All-GNAC team. In addition, two earned major awards for their performances this season.
Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) earned not just a First Team All-Conference selection but was selected as the GNAC Player of the Year. This past season was her best in the four years she has competed for the Raiders. Racevicius had a league-best 418 kills, averaging 4.02 per set and topping the GNAC with 88 service aces. Racevicius hit two milestones this year, reaching 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. That feat has only been done by one other playing in Rivier history.
Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY), also a First-Team selection, was named the GNAC Setter of the Year. Pollard was a staple in everything that the Raiders did on the court. But she wasn't just a setter. She was all over the place, racking up kills, digs, aces, and blocks. After starting her career learning a new position as an outside hitter, Pollard moved back to where she was most comfortable in her sophomore year. This only gave her three seasons as a setter, making her 3,000 assist milestone that she hit this season even more impressive. Pollard not only dished out 971 assists but tallied 102 kills, 85 aces, 188 digs, and 49 total blocks.
