Women's Cross Country: Raiders wrap up season at GNAC Championships

(Bristol, R.I.) For the final time in her career, senior Anna Pearsons (Kingston, Mass.) guided the Rivier University Women's Cross Country team to a top ten finish in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Johnson & Wales University at Colt State Park.

The Women scored a total of 224 points, good enough for 9th place. Norwich was crowned the Team Championship winner with 57 points.

The fourth-year runner and captain, Pearsons finished 23rd overall out of a field of 99 with a time of 21:18. Junior newcomer Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.) clocked in second behind Pearsons at 21:36 for a 26th place finish. Rounding out the team of five were Amelia Bassett – 81st at 26:35, Lauren Ferentino – 82nd at 26:59 and senior Alyssa Brown (Manchester, N.H.) – 87th at 28:19.

This concludes one of the most successful Women's Cross Country seasons in recent history. The Women's team competed in five invitationals – recording three top ten finishes including the overall team championship at the Massachusetts Maritime Invitational on September 29. In their only dual meet, the Raiders defeated Pine Manor College 17-38 for yet another win.
