Women’s Volleyball Fights Back to down WNEU and Sweeps Bay Path

NASHUA, NH: Rivier women's volleyball went five sets with non-conference opponent Western New England University after being down 2-0 to come out on top. The Raiders also took down Bay Path University to pick up their second win of the day.  

THE BASICS:

- Score: Rivier 3, WNEU 2: Sets (22-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-7), Rivier 3, Bay Path 0: Sets (25-12, 25-12, 25-11)

- Records: Rivier (11-3), WNEU (11-7), Bay Path (3-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match One

-  After a slow start with numerous errors by the Raiders, they finally got into a grove after falling 0-2 in sets early. They staved off the loss in the third and fourth set by a well-balanced offensive attack by numerous Raider student-athletes. Sydney Racevicius (Woodbury, CT) led the way with 14 kills. Cadia Greene (N. Kingstown, RI) and Ali Rivera (Lowell, MA) who tallied nine kills each. Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) had a match-high 22 digs to help the Raiders find their way back. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) had a season-high 46 assists in the five-set victory.

- Sarah Scott and Yemayma Molina had the team-high in kills with 11 each. Alissa Hawes topped the defense with 13 digs, while Taylor Geist finished with the team's best 16 assists.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 52, WNE 39

-  Assists: Rivier 52, WNE 34

-  Digs: Rivier 66, WNE 57

HOW IT HAPPENED: Match Two

- The Raiders continued to roll after their break picking up another 34 kills in just three sets. Racevicius had the match high in kills with 11. Pollard added another 30 kills to her stat line, and Pawlusik topped all defenders with 12 digs.

- Anastasiya Tsetsko had the team-high in kills for Bay Path with three. Overall, the Wildcats had ten kills and managed to dig just 26 Raider kill attempts.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Kills: Rivier 34, Bay Path 10

- Assists: Rivier 31, Bay Path 9

- Digs: Rivier 36, Bay Path 26

- Rivier women's volleyball will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Plymouth State for another non-conference matchup.
