Women's Soccer drops 2-0 decision to Saint Joseph's

(Standish, Maine) The Rivier University Women's Soccer team was defeated this afternoon by the Saint Joseph's College Monks, 2-0 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest in Standish, Maine. The loss drops the Raiders' overall record to 2-3-0 and 0-2-0 in the GNAC. Saint Joseph's improves to 2-4-0 and 1-1-0 GNAC with the win.

Rivier was able to keep the Monks off the board for the better part of the first half until SJM freshman Rebecca Pond (Westwood, Mass.) was able to sneak one past Rivier sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Goodspeed (Merrimack, N.H.) in the 40th minute.

The Monks would add a late insurance goal in the 87th minute when senior Hannah LeBlanc (Andover, Mass.) bounced one off her head on a pass from freshman Colleen Sheehan (Medway, Mass.) and tucked into the top left corner.

Goodspeed made five saves for the Raiders on the afternoon.

Rivier will return home to host Nichols College in a non-conference contest at Raider Field on Tuesday evening.
