Women's Lacrosse: Rivier downed by Fitchburg State, 18-3

(Fitchburg, Mass.) The Rivier University Women's Lacrosse team fell this evening on the road at Fitchburg State University, 18-3 in a non-conference contest held at Elliot Field. The Raiders are now just 0-2 to being the season while the Falcons imporve to 1-0. 

 

Rivier scored three times in the first half, led by sophomore Dzenna Omerovic (Revere, Mass.) who netted two goals on two shots. Junior Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.) notched her first goal in Raider uniform while also assisting on one of Omerovic's goals. 

Junior netminder Courtney Laperriere (Kenne, N.H.) was outstanding in net as she managed to make 20 saves over her 60 minutes of action. 

Fitchburg State recieved a four-goal game from Carrie Long and a trio of three-goal efforts from Anna Gagnon-Burch, Sarah Napolitano and Tracy Long. Marguerite Belcher earned the win in net stopping five of eight shots she faced. 

Next up for the Raiders will be thier first Great Northeast Athletic Conference road contest at Lasell College after the Spring Break on March 20th.
