Women's Basketball: Kacavas named to All-Tournament team; Raiders fall to Husson

(Waltham, Mass.) Playing in their third game in as many days, the Rivier University Women's Basketball team were handed an 83-63 defeat this afternoon in the consolation game of the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament. The Raiders are now 0-5 to begin the season while the Eagles improve to 1-1.

Senior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) dropped a game-high 24 points on 8-of-15 shooting from the floor. Fellow senior Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) once again totaled a double-double effort with 16 points and 11 rebounds while junior Elizabeth Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) added 10 points in the loss.

Husson was guided by the 14-point, 9-rebound effort from Sami Ireland along with the 12-point afternoon out of Kenzie Worcester. Both Vanessa Duarte and Logan Huckins each chipped in with 10 point apiece for the Eagles first win of the season.

For her efforts, Kacavas was named to the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament team. She complied a total of 43 points and 12 rebounds on the weekend. 

Rivier will have a day off before they travel to battle Fisher College on Tuesday evening in Lynn, Massachusetts.
