Women's Basketball: Raiders honor Emilee Kacavas on Senior Day

(Nashua, N.H.) The 2017-2018 Rivier University Women's Basketball season came to an end this afternoon as visiting Regis College defeated the Raiders, 69-60 in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest held at the Muldoon Gymnasium. The final game of the season was also the final game in the career of senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) who was honored prior to the start of the game.

Rivier (3-18 overall, 2-14 GNAC) got off to a hot start as they led the after the opening 10 minutes 18-13. However the Pride stormed back late in the second quarter to take a slim 35-33 lead into the locker room. It was the opening span of 5.5 minutes to begin the fourth quarter that Regis ran away with the contest as they went on a 15-0 run to secure the win.

Junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) led all scorers as she finished with 24 points and sophomore Lizzy Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with 11 points for the Raiders. Freshman Alexis Ivory (Nashua, N.H.) netted eight points, including two three-pointers, and junior Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Emilee Kacavas finished with five points, three rebounds and four assists.

The Pride (15-10, 12-4 GNAC) saw Brittany Stone register a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds while Maura Russell connected on six three-point attempts for 18 points. Shannon Hayes added 16 points and six rebounds in the win.

Regis' season will march on to the GNAC Tournament beginning on Tuesday evening. The official tournament bracket will be posted on www.thegnac.com.
