Women's Basketball: Rivier falls on the road at USJ, 80-55

(West Hartford, Conn.) The Rivier University Women's Basketball team, less than 48 hours removed from a late-night tough loss at Emmanuel, fell victim this afternoon to the University of Saint Joseph 80-55 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the O'Connell Center. The loss keeps the Raiders winless at 0-14 overall and 0-10 in the GNAC while the Blue Jays inch closer to .500 at 8-9 overall, 3-6 in conference play.

Junior Kaylee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) was one of three Raiders to reach double figures as she led the game with 26 points. Classmate Megan Hamel (Colebrook, N.H.) and sophomore Lizzy Meehan (Nashua, N.H.) both recorded a double-double as each had 10 points while Hamel out-rebounded Meehan, 11-10.

For USJ, they also had three student-athletes hit double figures in scoring as senior Kayla Guest (Newington, Conn.) led the team with 20 points and 9 rebounds while classmate Rajeen Mayo (Middletown, Conn.) added 19 points. Freshman Shanlyah Williams (New Britain, Conn.) was the other Blue Jay to hit double digits as she finished with 14 in the win.

Rivier will return to action on Tuesday night as they get set to travel to Boston, Mass. for a 7pm date with Simmons College. Saint Joseph will also be back in GNAC action on Tuesday night as they travel to Anna Maria College for a 7:30pm tip.
