(Myrtle Beach, S.C.) The Rivier University Softball team suffered a 9-0 loss in the second game of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C on Sunday.

The contest only went to 5 innings as the Raiders struggled to get on base.  The first inning was a quick 1-2-3 as well as the second.  However, in the second the Raiders started to connect with the King's pitches but had no luck getting on base.  Sophomore Katerina St. Angelo popped out (Johnston, R.I.), sophomore Emma Rousseau (Litchfield, N.H.) flied out then freshman Nicole Verette (Haverhill, Mass.) lined out to second base.

It was the fourth inning when freshmen Brenna Welch (Ridge, N.H.) singled to right center earning the first hit of her collegiate career.  Unfortunately, the hit was only good for the books and not for the score board as Sophomore Hunter Greenleaf's (Scarborough, Me.) at bat resulted in grounding out to second and sending the team to the bottom of the fourth inning.

St. Angelo and Verette connected with a couple more pitches however failed to convert them into hits.  The King's wound up scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth due to a single, then a fielding error that finally led to a triple that sent two across home base.

The loss sends the Raiders into day two of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, 0-2.  On Monday morning they'll face the Falcons of Cedar Crest College from Pennsylvania and then the Spartans of Castleton College from Vermont.
