Men's Volleyball: Raiders blank the Mavericks 3-0 to set the tone for today's tri-match.

Story written and posted by Hayden Barbosa, Rivier University Assistant Sports Information Director

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Raider sent a message to the  Mavericks of Medaille College after a quick sweep to kick-off this afternoon's tri-match in the Muldoon Gymnasium. The scores for each set were 13-25, 11-25 and 17-25.

Leading the attack for the Raiders was senior David Smith (Clinton, OH) hitting at an impressive .643 after 11 kills and two aces. The outside hitter also showed some resistant defense scooping up 6 digs and a block.   While Smith had-a-day, the wealth was certainly spread across the board.

Sophomores Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, Ma), Quinn Foglia (Remsenberg, NY), Kristjan Cortez (Fremont, Cali) and senior Francis Kokoros (Braintree, Ma) each collected five kills apiece.  Freshmen Thomas Miller (Clinton, N.Y.) also chipped in with two kills on three attempts.

The veteran setter Pedro Campos (Downey, Cali) hit at 1.000 after capitalizing on his 3 attempts and tallied an impressive 25 assists.

While the Raiders attack was quite persistent their defense was resistant.  The team collected a total of 21 digs and six blocks denying the Mavericks opportunity to claw back into the game.

Up next will be a showdown between to two visitors.  The Mavericks and the Bison of Nicols College.
