Men's Volleyball dominate Mustangs 3-0

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier Men's Volleyball team defeated the visiting Mount Ida College Mustangs this afternoon by the score of 3 sets to 0. With the win, the Raiders improve their season record to 13-9 (8-1 GNAC). As for the Mustangs, their season record drops to 5-18 (0-10 GNAC).

Rivier was just simply too much for the Mustangs to handle in this one. The Raiders, who were led by Mike Hadder (Yucaipa, Calif.) dominated the Mustangs in virtually every single aspects of the game. Using some impressive offensive and defensive team work, the Raiders were able to absolutely dismantle the Mustangs. As a result of their efforts, the Raiders were able to take the first set by an impressive 25-7 score.

The Raiders continued their hot play into the second set. Although the Mustangs were able to put on a few more points than they were in the first set, the result was still the same. The Raiders, who were the much higher ranked team heading into the matchup, established their dominance early and never looked back. Eventually, Rivier was able to take the set by the score of 25-12.

The Mustangs needed to make a significant turn-around in the third set in order to prevent themselves from being sent home early with the loss. Team work, communication, and heart is what Mount Ida seemed to lack there more the two teams played. With every offensive strike the Mustangs would put forward, the Raiders had an answer. Despite their attempt to make this an interesting match, the Mustangs fell far short of their expectations. The usual Raider starters had the night off to rest. Rivier was able to take the final set by the score of 25-18.

Rivier had good performances turned in by Mike Hadder (Yucaipa, Calif.) who was able to lead the Raiders with an impressive 14 kills. Ian Wolski (Westfield, Mass.) was able to record an additional 9 kills, while teammate Matt Lasance (Madison, Conn.) finished the game with 29 assists.
