Nashua, N.H. – Daniel Webster College (5-5-1) proved to be too much for intracity rival Rivier College (1-12) to handle Thursday, as the Eagles defeated the Raiders 3-0 at Eagle Field. This is the fourth straight year that the Eagles have beaten the Raiders in the teams' annual matchup.
Senior Michael Lohr (Chepachet, R.I.) notched the Eagles' first goal 12 minutes into play by sending an inbound pass from Rick Trafton (Raymond, N.H.) sailing into the corner of the net.
Alex Jackson's (Kent, Ohio) excellent footwork led to the Eagles second score of the day. Jackson split the defense, causing a collision between Rivier's defenders before netting his seventh goal of the season at the 32-minute mark.
The final Eagles score came in the 51st minute when Ben Anthony (Greenfield, N.H.)drove a Jackson pass into the net.
Daniel Webster controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish. The Eagles finished with the advantage in total shots (25-3) and shots on goal (17-1).
Rivier senior John Jarvis (Henniker, N.H.)shined recording twelve saves in the contest.
Tom Al Naber (Parkton, Md.) had the Eagles' only save of the game, while playing only the last five minutes of the game in relief of starter Joe Keene (Bristol, N.H.) and fellow reliever Marty Davis (Bloomsburg, Penn.).
The Eagles will be back in action this Saturday as they host Wheelock College in a conference matchup at 2:30 p.m. The Raiders will be on the road again to face conference foe Suffolk Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
