(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Lacrosse team suffered a loss on the road to the Vikings of Salem State University last night, 12-8.  The loss drops them 0-2 with plenty of games left in the season to bounce back.

The first and third quarter is where the Vikings separated themselves from the Raiders however in the second and fourth the two teams were equal.

The first leg was literally a back and forth.  Freshmen Jeffrey Potter (North Benningtong, Vt.) was the first to get on the board with an unassisted goal, after a Vikings turnover. The lead didn't last long as less than two minutes later the Vikings equalized.  Shortly thereafter the Vikings struck again to go up, 2-1.

Junior Jacob Enwright (Dracut, Mass.) was the next to bury one at the 9:06 mark to tie it back up.  Enwright struck again however this time it was off a dish from Sophomore Nick Ackerman (Durham, N.H.) to bring the game to a tie again, 3-3. The Vikings were the last to strike in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, senior Kyle Newman (Merrimack, N.H.) scored an unassisted goal then collaborated with and Jacob Enwright minutes later to bring the score to 5-4.

In the third quarter the Raiders dropped 3 goals and didn't respond until the fourth quarter.

Newman struck again during a man up situation thanks to a Potter assist. Enwright found the back of the net twice before the final horn.  The middie buried 5 goals tonight after 9 shots on frame.

Junior Goalie Ben Fitzpatrick (Stoneham, Mass.) collected 19 saves in the contest while the Vikings goalie recorded 8 saves after dealing with 16 shots on goal.  Gusikoff and Jake DeStefano (Peabody, Mass.) collectively went 12-20 from the center circle, where the Vikings only went 8-20.

Up next for the Raiders will be a home opener against Mitchell College at 6PM on Wednesday, March 4th.
