Bio
Bruce Marchand will enter his second season on the Raiders’ basketball staff as an assistant coach in 2024-25.
During the first season with the program, Marchand helped lead the Raiders to one of the biggest turnarounds in the nation as the team produced 13 more wins than the previous season. This success helped Rivier notch its first winning season in over a decade and a spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinals for the first time since 2013-14.
His duties include coordinating recruiting efforts, developing practice plans, and working on game strategies in season as well as running prospect, day, and all-sport camps in the summers.
Through his recruiting efforts, Marchand recruited All-GNAC Third Teamer Devin Owens as well as some key student-athletes who helped the squad earn the 24th most steals per game in the NCAA Division III.
Marchand joined the Rivier University staff after a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Quinsigamond Community College. While at Quinsigamond, he helped the team reach the NJCAA Region 21 Final Four for the first time in nearly a decade, helped recruit an all-region player, and implemented scouting reports of opponents into the weekly routine.
During this time frame, Marchand was also the head coach and team advisor of the Worcester Majors ABA program. With the Majors, he hired coaching staff, oversaw all staff and players, and reported to ownership on day-to-day operations.
Marchand founded the Central Mass Dynasty Basketball Club in 2019 and has been the program's CEO and coach since its inception. He also works with the Boston Warriors AAU Basketball since 2017 assisting with operations and player development.
From 2018-20, Marchand was the junior varsity boys' basketball head coach at Abby Kelly Foster Charter High School.
During Marchand’s senior year at Nichols College, he assumed the role of men’s basketball manager. While at Nichols, Marchand studied Sport Management and Psychology, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in 2018.
