Men's Basketball: Raiders tripped up by Wentworth, 71-59

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball stepped out of Great Northeast Athletic Conference play this evening as they hosted Wentworth Institute of Technology at the Muldoon Gymnasium. Despite leading 26-22 at the half, the Raiders would allow 47 second half points to ultimately fall 71-59 to the Leopards. The loss sends Rivier to an overall record of 1-21 while Wentworth improves to 7-15.

Junior Nate Hale (Nashua, N.H.) led the offense for the Raiders with 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor. Classmate Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) also reached double figures with 14 points and fellow junior Keith Poitier (East Hartford, Conn.) finished with eight points in the loss.

Wentworth was guided by the double-double effort from junior Stephen Azums (Hyde Park, Mass.) who recorded 19 points and 15 rebounds. Sophomore Gavin Keough (Dunstable, Mass.) chipped in with 16 points while classmate Kyle Henseler (Coventry, R.I.) totaled 12 points in the win.

Rivier will return to the court on Saturday afternoon as they host Suffolk University at 1pm. It will also be Senior Day at the 'Doon as the Raiders honor their lone senior – Isiah Marks – with a short ceremony set to begin at roughly 12:55pm. Wentworth will also host senior day activities on Saturday afternoon as they host Curry College at 3pm.
