Men's Basketball: Givens, Raiders fall to Lasell

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered another Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss this evening as they fell to visiting Lasell College, 98-77. The loss sends the Raiders to 1-18 overall on the season with a 0-10 mark in the conference while the Lasers inch closer to .500 at 8-9 overall, 6-2 against GNAC competition.

Rivier saw four student-athletes reach double figures led by sophomore Issaiah Chappell (Sunapee, N.H.) who registered 19 points off the bench. Classmate Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.) knocked down 17 points and freshman Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.) netted 16 points in the loss. Freshman Glenn Jones (Norwalk, Conn.) chipped in with 10 points for the Raiders.

Lasell had senior Scott Arsenault (Walpole, Mass.) shoot lights-out from beyond the arc as he was 8-12 from three-point land on his way to 24 points. Sophomore Stefan Masciarelli (Northbridge, Mass.) was the game-high scorer with 28 points and freshman Liam Jacobs (Plainfield, Conn.) connected for 16 points as the Lasers recorded a 52.4% shooting percentage throughout the game.

Rivier will enjoy a rare weekend off due to conference scheduling and will return to action on Tuesday evening at home against Emmanuel College. Lasell, meanwhile, returns on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Norwich University for a 1pm tip.
