Men's Basketball: Raiders edged out at home by Regis

(Nashua, N.H.) The Rivier University Men's Basketball team suffered another Great Northeast Athletic Conference loss this evening to visiting Regis College, 87-85 inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. The loss sends the Raiders' overall record to 1-15 (0-7 GNAC) while the Pride improves to 8-7, 5-2 in conference play.

In total, four different Rivier student-athletes registered double-digit nights led by sophomore Tristian Givens (Windsor, Conn.) who finished with 21 points. Classmates Issaiah Chappelle (Sunapee, N.H.) and Joshua L'Heureux (Dracut, Mass.) each netted 16 points while freshman Tarik Rivers (Stamford, Conn.) finished with 11 points.

Regis junior Ademola Afonja (Staten Island, N.Y.) tied Givens for the game-high with 21 points while also collecting eight rebounds. Classmate Shawn Wedderbum (Bronx, N.Y.) collected 12 points and eight rebounds with junior Jordan Sheldon (Dorchester, Mass.) totaled 11. Junior Tim Broom (Jacksonville, Fla.) chipped in with 13 points in a reserve effort for the Pride.

Rivier outshot the Pride by a 51.7% to 47.1% margin and out-rebounded them, 37-32.

Next up for the Raiders will be another GNAC contest inside the Muldoon on Saturday afternoon as they host Norwich University. Regis will also be in conference action on Saturday as they host Mount Ida College in a 3pm tipoff.
