Lessard, Davis named Student-Athletes of the Month

Female Student-Athlete of the Month: Cydney Lessard | Women’s Basketball

The Rivier University Athletics Department is proud to announce that sophomore Cydney Lessard of the Women’s Basketball team has been selected as the Female Student-Athlete of the Month for January.

The Auburn, N.H. native started the month off with a big win at home against Lynx of Lesley University, 70-56.  She knocked down five of five shots from inside and went three for six from beyond the line. Lessard also went 3 for 4 from the foul line giving her a toal of 16 points that evening. 

To date Cydney leads the Raiders with minutes played and has started in all but one contest in January. She has collected a total of 228 points and 25 assists.  Lessard has been sent to the free-throw line where she's gone 60-81, averaging 74.1 per game.  Shes also proved he worth racking up a total of 35 rebounds, 25 of which were on the defense and tallied 10 steals. 

The guard finished the month as not only the team leader in points per game, she also sits among the top 10 in the GNAC for points per game at 13.4. 

 

Male Student-Athlete of the Month: Pharaoh Davis | Men’s Basketball

The Rivier University Athletics Department is proud to announce that freshmen Pharaoh Davis has been named as the Male Student-Athlete of the Month for January.

The Plainville, Massachusetts native started in all but one match this month after having a strong start in November.  The guard was an integral part of the two wins against Lesley University and Norwich University tallying 34 points

In January he started in all but one match and currently leads the team in minutes played at 483.  He led the Raiders with 41 assists as well as defensive rebounds with 59, 29 of them being in January alone.  Pharaoh also leads the Raiders with 23 steals and is among the top scorers with 176 points, averaging 10.4 points per game.
