Perez, Emilee Kacavas named December Student-Athletes of the Month

(Nashua, New Hampshire) The Rivier University Athletics Department is pleased to announce that senior Emilee Kacavas (Dracut, Mass.) and junior Angel Perez (Miami, Fla.) have been selected as the Rivier University Student-Athletes of the Month. 

Female Student-Athlete of the Month: Emilee Kacavas | Women's Basketball 

Kacavas was selected after regisitering her career high of 17 points in the team's loss to Johnson & Wales University on December 2nd. The senior guard shot 7-for-17 from the floor and 2-of-4 from 3-point land while pulling down seven rebounds. 

In the month, she played in all three of the team's games while shooti17-for-53 (30.0%) and collecting 18 rebounds. Her points per game average was 13.3 as she also scored 14 points at the College of Saint Joseph (Vt.) on December 6th and nine points at Saint Joseph's College of Maine on December 9th. 

This is the first time in her short career that Kacavas has been named Rivier Female Student-Athlete of the Month. 

Male Student-Athlete of the Month: Angel Perez | Men's Basketball 

Perez was named after guiding the Men's Basketball team to their first win of the season - a 99-72 triumph over Paul Smith's College on December 10th. In that game, the junior guard set the individual Raider record for Made Free-Throws in a game as he went 20-for-20 on his way to a 40 point night. It was the best night in Perez' short career in Raider Blue as he shot 8-for-12 from the floor including knocking down 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. The Miami, Floirda native also pulled down eight rebounds in his 26 minutes of work. 

For the month, Perez averaged 22.5 points per game. He steadily improved over the team's four game as his point total went up in each contest (14-16-20-40). 

This is the first time in his career that Perez has been named the Rivier Male Student-Athlete of the Month.
