Women's Cross Country: Pearsons leads Rivier WXC to dual meet victory

(Boston, Mass.) While competing at the Emmanuel College Saints Invitational, the Rivier University Women's Cross Country team scored a dual meet win over Pine Manor College, 17-38.

It was a race to the finish between Rivier standouts in senior Anna Pearsons (Kingston, Mass.) and junior Marin Owens (Brookline, N.H.). Both runners crossed the line a 21:43 with Pearsons edging out Ownes at the line.

In total – the Raiders were the first four runners to cross the line with freshmen Lauren Ferentino (Hudson, N.H.) and Amelia Bassett (Derry, N.H.) checking in at third & fourth with times of 25:58 and 26:51, respectively.

Pine Manor's Kayleigh Merrill was their team's first finisher in fifth place at 28:31 followed by Shaquanda Middleton at 30:26.

Rivier completed the team win when senior Alyssa Brown (Manchester, N.H.) crossed the line at 32:39 for seventh place.

Next Up: The Women's Cross Country team will compete in the annual Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Johnson & Wales University at Colt State Park in Bristol, Rhode Island.
