WINTHROP, MASS. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference announced earlier this afternoon that Rivier University senior Jess Whyte (Plymouth, Mass.) has been selected as the Conference's Player of the Week for Women's Volleyball.

Whyte was simply electric all week leading the Raiders to a 3-0 GNAC record with a team high 3.86 kills per set average on an impressive .667 hitting percentage. The senior middle hitter set the tone early and often making just three hitting errors on 36 attempts allowing Rivier to jump out to 2-0 leads in all three matches on the week. She also got the job done on the defensive end as well averaging 0.57 blocks per set in the three matches. Whyte capped off her week with a 13-kill, .611 hitting percentage performance in the 3-0 win over Norwich University.

This is the latest achievement for the Women's Volleyball team in 2019. Earlier this season, fellow senior Taylor Dunster (Sutton, Mass.) was named the GNAC Player of the Week back on September 23rd.

Whyte and the rest of the Raiders return to action tomorrow night as they host #18 Johnson & Wales University inside the Muldoon Gymnasium. Game time is set for 7pm and you watch/follow live at portal.stretchinternet.com/rivier/
